Hi, I’m Lauren. And I’m a fellow mad woman.

I’m also a therapist, social worker, feminist, mom, doctoral student, Swiftie, reproductive justice activist/researcher, complex trauma survivor, podcaster, and queer person. (I know that’s a lot, but all of my identities inform my work as a therapist, so I like to mention them!) It’s so lovely to meet you.

I opened my private practice, Daylight Counseling Services, in 2022. For three years, I focused my clinical work on perinatal loss and trauma. While those are still huge areas of passion for me (and I’m more than happy to work with any client who needs specific support with those experiences), everything shifted for me professionally after the 2024 elections.

I immediately noticed that so many of the women around me — while enraged by the fascist policies of the Trump administration — were getting too activated by their trauma histories to be able to engage effectively in this major political moment in our country.

Those patriarchal traumas (violence against women and girls, intimate partner violence, “good girl” conditioning, people-pleasing, sexism, racism, homophobia, etc.) were sending them into fight-or-flight, leaving them overwhelmed and shut down.

I realized quickly as an intersectional feminist therapist that angry progressive women need help ASAP to process their trauma so we can fight back against the onslaught of attacks on our rights. Thus, Mad Woman Therapy was born.

In addition to my clinical practice, I’m working towards my Doctor of Social Work at Rutgers University, where I’m studying how abortion stigma impacts the grief experiences of TFMR parents. I also co-host a Taylor Swift podcast with my sister. In my spare time, I love to bake with my kiddo, read, run, listen to my girl Taylor, and re-watch the same TV shows a million times.

If you’ve been wanting to process your patriarchal trauma and think I might be a good fit for you, please feel free to schedule a free, 15-minute consultation call at the button below 🫶
